We choose friendship.We choose life.

"We enter the world alone, and we leave it alone. And everything that happens in between, we owe it to ourselves to find a little company. We need help. We need support. Otherwise we're in it by ourselves. Strangers. Cut off from each other. And we forget just how connected we all are. So instead, we choose love. (We choose friendship). We choose life. And for a moment we feel just a little bit less alone."

[Season 5 Ep. 10 Grey's Anatomy "All By Myself"]

This post is dedicated to my friend of past 21 years.A friend who shares the same society as mine.A friend with whom I've had the worst fights and the best memories!A friend with whom I have the full liberty of behaving in the most childish way.My 24*7 Gossiping partner! :)

She's about to begin her career. She's the first in her family to break the age-old norms of the society she  originally belongs to.She's the first one to graduate, plus, holder of a post-graduate degree. She's an example setter.

I wish you all the very best Tina!
We used to exchange cards in our childhood during our birthdays. We used to hide them in the cycle-baskets so that the other one could check out the funny drawings and those special  wishes before heading to schools in what we used to call as "free-dress"(Birthday dress actually)!Below is a card I made for her.A congratulations card!Tomorrow morning is going to be a surprise for her :)

Orangey Fanta Times: Such moments seldom knock your door !

13th March 2013:

(Yes, it was my birthday! :P )
I and my junior from another department were selected for the anchoring speech which was to be delivered on the occasion of the Annual Sports Meet of our University. We were told this was going to be in the presence of all the directors of major institutes of our university. Two days it took to get our speech prepared, all because of the hectic college schedule we have.Fianlly the day! What’s more exciting than such an exciting start to your special day? All the Hindi verses in between, the Thankyou notes, the silly expressions. Everything was a fun. Finally when we were about to leave, while we were climbing down the staircases of the huge stage, the chief guest-a NCC Group Commander chief rose from his seat and came to us, gave us a firm handshake and said “ Bahot acha bola baccho”.
My God! Such a gentleman’s gesture.Otherwise, when have you seen the chief-guest himself coming to you and praising your work? J

20th March 2013 :

Wipro comes to our college to brief us about the opportunities galore you have as an Entrepreneur  and how Wipro promotes all its employees to follow their passion.
Well, they had other intentions too. They had come to select two individuals from the campus who would serve as a face of Wipro for the college .I guess, we were 400+ students seated in an auditorium. They briefed us about all the stuffs and then as a preliminary test asked each one of us to write down three paragraphs –one describing ourselves, one describing our leadership qualities and yet another explain why we are fit for the position.I  wrote all three.I shouldn’t add effortlessly. For I had contents to mention in the second and the third section. But writing about yourself, is something, I’ve always found difficult.

They were going to announce the results after 60minutes.Followed by the lunch break, we had the declaration of the results.14 was the number of people they had selected and ahoy! I was one among them. Among 14 from 400!

Next round was a vote-appeal round. My goodness. Convincing people you are the best is not an easy job, atleast for me.Somehow,I got ready, prepared myself mentally(It’s not easy to face 400 people instantaneously!) and then the “Yess,I Can”  feeling.Thats what all you need at the end-before the start! J
It was breath-taking to be facing that crowd. A little shivering, loud bold voice-everything. Precious moments these are!

Although couldn’t make it to the top two learnt three important lessons of life(Yet again?)

1st Never be afraid of trying out something new. Never underrate yourself. You are, too, a god’s creation like the rest and be assured that God cannot be biased.

2nd : There will always be people who’ll hate you because you’ve won. Love them. They say, people you love stay in your hearts and minds. Let them occupy those positions. They will keep on reminding you what you gotta achieve. These people will make you a lot stronger!

3rd : Your true friends are those, who’ll not appreciate you speech there, but the effort you had put in behind delivering that. Not the end result, but your preparation.

On The Road..

I commute daily to college via auto-rickshaws. It’s so beautiful travelling on the marvelous roads of Gujarat with the serene morning wind blowing and flirting with your hair each time. And over that, if you have a PG Wodehouse accompanying you, you feel you’re the happiest and the most stress-free person alive on the planet. Just as you’re creating your own magical land for the next 10-15 minutes, the autowaala  spits on those beautiful roads making you realize “It’s no fairy-tale” girl!

So annoying this is!

20 ---> 21

First of all, a Happy Women’s Day to all the bold and beautiful out there.

4 more days and I would turn 21! (Yes, I’m not faking it! I fail to understand why women shy away from admitting their age. Aren't they proud enough of all the wrinkles each one wrapping a unique learning experience?)Whatever it may be, but the fact stays that one more year passed by leaving with me a draped box of experiences, emotions, success and failures nicely ribboned with love, care ,maturity and learning.
  •  20th birthday started off with some wonderful surprises! A birthday similar to what a 2 year old female kid would expect. A princess like experience with a beautiful crown, HAPPY BIRTHDAY stickers on my wall and the yummy Dutch Truffle!
  •  In May, I had my first teaching experience at LES, SXSSS.The super amazing and such lovely innocent kids. The way they used to address me as ‘Pooja Teacher’ and hang around me narrating their school stories. Only one word defines my experience there-‘Unique’. I ended my teaching demanding a promise from my kids that no matter how the circumstances would shape in the near future, they’ll continue studies.
  •  Completed a year of travelling in the public transports. Has made me a lot stronger and much more alert.(So much so that some from my class have nicknamed me “Jhasi Ki Rani” and I LOVE IT)
  • Getting selected for a group discussion in the ILEADINDIA contest as a semifinalist in regionals and being judged by none other than the TOI Editors! Awesome na?
  • Being judged by people! Proved that I’m strong enough to raise in front of the entire class and address the mass in general that “It doesn’t make a difference. You are making me stronger! Thankyou!”.Believe me, letting people know that they’ve hurt you somewhere deep down is one of the ways of feeling lighter rather than shutting off that window forever.
  • Lost my best friend’s grandma. She was very close to my heart addressing me as her own grand-child. She holds a special place in my heart for her kindness, her struggle and the courage stories and her love and warmth. The last time, I went to meet her, she already had symptoms of amnesia but somehow recognized me..That meant a lot to me.
  • Won the first prize for the first time in an event held at my college. Web designing. Followed by three more. That ecstasy and joy! If you feel it’s a li’l thing to be mentioned here, you’re welcome to participate in my college’s events.
  • Vaudeville-The Annual Cult fest of our college and I was a participant in the drama event .Praised by the judges who belonged to the Mumbai theater fraternity. So much so that they even asked the three of was to contact him if anytime in future we decide to pursue a career in theaters.Impressive isn't it?
  •  Got addicted to the impressive Mahabharata-a television show dramatizing the longest Indian epic. So much that nobody is allowed to speak during 8:30 to 9:00 at my home. A period of complete silence.
  •   Missed a staircase and slipped for the first time. Just a bloated foot.:)
  •  Cook.Cook.Cook.They say, manage your home for a day before you turn 21.Manage everything from start to end. I can proudly say, I did that for more than a month during two separate periods.Definately, lead to growth and independence + a li’l expertise in bargaining with the vegetable vendors + dealing with all categories of people and being nice to them.
  • Some new friends and some older ones getting transformed to lifelong treasures.
  •  Just yesterday-my name in the attendance review: O First time in 5 semesters .Wonder where did I make a mistake calculating the allowed bunks!
PS: My friends are demanding a party even for this lame reason. That’s what friends are meant for? Eh?

My exams ended just today and having absolutely nothing to do,I ended up making this(Of course,on a lighter note `:-))
Blessings and Wishes are always welcome.

PSS: I started out writing on 8th->drafts->Resumed on 9th.

Its just the Birthday Mania Girl!

No matter how old you are going to turn, birthdays are always meant to be special! :)

PS: Today a silly thing happened! An Orangey Fanta Time?
One of my teachers approached me (while we were 'RE'vising the protocols ;) )asking me to anchor on this 13th(that's 6 days from now!:P ) for the Annual Sports Day and I so idiotically mentioned "Its my birthday that day".Ofcourse just like that.Just after she said it was on 13th .I dont know why!So prompt came this sentence! And I am feeling so soo awkward now that I am madly smiling at my childishness! :P
